That is pretty much an oxymoron. We've all be getting new privacy notices lately because of the EU ruling, which provides some comfort to us users. Not so in America.
Most of those privacy notices begin with a sentence something like this: "Your data security
and privacy are important to us." Then go on with a huge legal document explaining all the ways they plan to use our data, irrespective of any privacy concerns from us.
They put in place labyrinthine processes to select several different levels of security, blaming their concern for customer service in giving us so many options. Why can't I simply reply to the email that I want them to delete, or block, or hide all of my personal data.
The EU has put in the option to forget me. Delete all my personal data. Companies operating in the US do not offer this option, even though it is clear that they are capable of doing it in the EU.
So when you say data security and privacy is important, I simply can't believe you.
